In response to the news article under Hawkster's Nest by Hawkeye on 2/1/00 entitled Just a thought. I posted this on the message board but wanted to also make it available here as well.
A lot of things have changed since the “glory days” of the beginning. I, like you Hawkeye, find it somewhat depressing. Many friends have come and gone, some of which I still remain in contact with via ICQ. The others have simply faded away into the darkened memories of my twisted mind. Hopefully, if the server merge actually becomes a reality, I will be reunited with friends who have moved to other servers. That will be a great day. Regarding your comments about GuardianKana (and the rest of the 3DO Meridian staff), I have never had a confrontation with either of them. My experience has always been positive. Maybe that is because I’ve always played by the rules, I don’t know. I am, by no means, discounting the horror stories told by many of the other players. I can not confirm, or deny, their allegations. I do, however, have a deep respect for any person who would strive to keep this great game alive and active. Kana, Vimto, Kimo, Corliss (and any involved): I wish to thank you for your efforts. It is greatly appreciated not only by me, but by many others as well. Asylum Productions, Eric and Josh, you have a dream, an honorable dream. It is my wish, as well as 84.67% of the people polled (at the time of this posting), that you continue your crusade to revive our Meridian world and build a better place for us to continue our relationships. I wish you well and will do whatever it takes to help this project become a success. I implore the members of this web community to give these guys a break. Whether or not you think this project is doomed to fail is irrelevant. The bottom line is that this is not a hoax. If you can trust anyone here, it is me… Gilroy. I have nothing to gain, or loose, regarding this project and it serves no one for me to lie to you. I have spoken with this team in great detail and am convinced that they are sincere in their efforts. No one says it is going to be easy to make it past all of the obstacles. However, it does make it extremely difficult to maintain a degree of confidence and motivation when constantly bombarded by negativity, condescension and skepticism. Be supportive! Please! Our message board has degraded to a point where I have seriously considered removing it. This website was created with a vision. To bring the Meridian community together in order to share ideas, stories and friendships. The message board was the cornerstone in this architecture. I have spent countless hours trying to keep the “bad blood” subdued. I cannot work miracles. I have tried! I raise my hands in disgust sometimes. Please help me revive the life of this website by trying to bring positive, constructive conversation to our forums. It is you, the members of this community, that make this place special. It is your responsibility to maintain a level of respect, maturity and dignity. The future of this board depends on you because I’ve about had enough. I hope you take what I have said to heart. If you love Meridian, please ask yourself “is it of any benefit” before you post disparaging comments. Thanks for taking the time to read my novel. Gilroy |
