A new Events Guide, a "Bard", has joined the Meridian 59 Server 101/102 Team - 'Bard Toko'!

His introduction and details on his first major event, a REAL DEATH TOURNAMENT, are below!


Bets on winners/losers are also being placed in game amidst the community - if you play on 101 or are lurking and didn't know about the event, feel free to swing by to at least observe and see what you are missing out on - it is likely this won't be the first Tournament held by Toko!

Greetings,

I am Toko. Some of you already know me as Khan. I have shed my mortal form (all my accounts are now disabled) and intend to provide events with significant risk, reward, and entertainment. Meridian without death and risk is no Meridian at all. Let the games begin!

The first scheduled event will be a tourney held next week on Sunday Sept 29th @ 10:00 AM Pacific.

Details are below:

Tournament Type: 1v1 traditional style bracket real death elimination tournament
Registration is open. Gmail "Toko" the character you wish to use
Max entrants: 16

>>IMPORTANT
I am limiting the tournament to 16 entries. Please send me a gmail with your character name to be added to the tourney roster. I have to limit the number of slots in order to execute the tourney within a reasonable amount of time.


Rules:
-Contestants will be paired up for 1v1 battle in the arena (traditional mode).
-Winning a round will result in an award of 100K and advancement to the next round.
-Losing a round will result in a death. No items will be lost but normal death penalties will apply. (You will be teleported to a God screen, be smited, then allowed to recover your items).
-Use as strong or as weak a character as you like. It is up to you to decide. 20 HP to 150 HP allowed.
-NO INTERFERENCE WILL BE ALLOWED during the event including in the Arena Foyer.
-One character entry per player please.
-Spectators will be allowed.
-There are no other rules.


Prizes:
The champion of the tournament will receive:
1) +5 HP (not to exceed their maximum)
3) A MSH
3) 1 million shillings
4) A jerkin with the engraving "I won Toko's elimination tourney and won this crappy jerkin"
5) The glory of knowing everyone else suffered a real death while you emerged victorious as the tournament champion

The runner up (2nd place) will receive:
1) One god gift of their choice
2) 500 K

Again, for winning a round a contestant will receive 100K

This is but the first scheduled event. There will be more.


The pairings will be assigned randomly through dice rolls before the start of the tournament.


Questions that were asked:

Q: Will the +5hp given to the winner only be added to the winning character or any character of the winners choice?
A: Only to the winner character. You may wish to use an unmaxed character given the real death possibility and the prize.

Q: I know there are no other rules, but just to clarify, does that include buffing?Before, after, during? etc
A: You can buff whenever you like but the tournament will run on its own schedule. There is no guarantee that they will remain up when your round begins.

Q: Why not fight in Goads arena just no looting!
A: The current tournament will be in the arena. We can look at other locations for other tourneys if that is a popular request.
