Upcoming Spell Changes

"The following changes to spells will be in the next update:

- Purify will be self-cast only.

- Truce will be disabled. I looked for a less drastic change, but the way truce is implemented means that it will require major surgery to do something less, like make it affect monsters only.

- Earthquake will do damage based on distance. Within a certain distance, damage will be 100%. More than a greater distance, damage will be 0%. Between these it will gradually fall off.

One other thing on earthquake. In the current code the damage is computed three times: once for damage to the caster, once for damage to other players, and once for monsters. There is a factor based on the caster's ability that should be a multiplier on damage. However, this factor is currently *added* to damage to the caster and monsters, and multiplied for damage to other players, which makes no sense. In the new code the damage is computed the same way for all three (i.e. it's multiplied).

Thus, after this change, the caster and monsters will receive more damage. Since the caster is at the center of the spell, he will receive 100% damage, as intended."
