Meridian Invasion
In a preemptive strike of defiance to show their defiance to the United States and their allies, Saddam Heusin has launched an attack on one of the world's most loved entertainment pastimes. 2000 Iraqi troops marched into the world of Meridian, conquering Guildhalls, and demolishing structures along the way. George Bush has issued a PK alert. His words…

"My loyal countrymen,
It is with a heavy heart that I inform you one of our most cherished areas, Meridian, is under attack by Iraqi troops. We will be sending counter troops immediately. Until then, I advise all Meridianites to stay indoors. Do not leave the safety of Familiars or other inns/advent halls. Guild beware, they are planning even more extensive attacks on you. Intelligence reports that Saddam's government sees guilds as an organize threat and will move against them with any opportunity. Mule scouts sent by the US Marines identified that Wyvern's keep, Bookmakers and the island guildhouse has already fallen. My fellow countrymen and allies, for these grave injustices, all members of the Iraqi army are KOS! "

The Gallery has done some assessment of the situation itself. Jonas is conducting sting operations. He is sending in small bands of rebels to attach, then rescue to safety before they can be overrun. The princess's castle is currently under siege. What's strange to notice is that the Iraqis seem to be ignoring the general vicinity of the Duke's castle. There are many rumors going around the various taverns that our reporters have visited to cover this story. The most prevalent of these claims the Duke has formed a secret alliance with Saddam's forces.

Local guy's invention hailed by critics.

Gilroy McGilconet has earned notoriety in not only his native Scotland, but worldwide. His invention "the airless bagpipes" has many musicians raving. The instruments have been basically running off the shelves. One renowned music critic stated "It's the greatest thing since the invention of the guitar!" Some other more traditional bagpipe players were up in arms. They picketed with signs that read "death of a tradition" and "Don't westernize our culture!" some said they did now know who the bigger windbag was, the inventor or the invention. The multi-million dollar earning invention was featured at number one on Time Magazine's list of "greatest inventions of 2002". What's next for Gilroy? "Well, I think I am going to try and automate the Saxophone, trumpet and Tuba and a private ummm…device. The job blows but it's a great money maker!"
On a related note, "Oh Danny Boy" performed by the Moo Celtic Orchestra (MCO) has made a tremendous comeback on the charts, debuting at number 3. This funky rendition of an old Scottish classic, featured Gilroy's invention to automate the bagpipes, and the distortion that gives the tune a "Heavy Metal" twist.

Hope y'all had a chuckle and from the Staff of Gilroy's I would like to wish everyone a Happy and prosperous New Year!!!!
