NDS licenses Baldur's Gate 'Infinity' engine for M59 sequel!
4/1/2002 7:08:13 AM - Sindar

Near Death Studios announced in a press release yesterday that they would be licensing Black Isle's "Infinity" engine used in Baldur's Gate to be heavily modified for the yet unnamed sequel to Meridian 59.

The game will be largely party based and will feature the same isometric third person view found in the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale series'.

Scott Grieg, Black Isle employee and one of the primary programmers and designers for the Infinity engine said, "I'm very happy to see our engine expanding in such a way. When we finally decided to license the engine, we were actually hoping that it might be picked up by a massively multiplayer game developer. Our wish came true; I'm looking forward to seeing what Near Death Studios does with it."

More details pending.
