Meridian 59 Going Strong
We're very pleased with how things have been going since the Meridian 59 Resurrection Pre-Launch went live on March 15th. The game is as solid and stable as ever and we're growing a fun enthusiastic population. The players have been wonderful with people joining together for large mananode runs or server wide battles. We hope you all come join us if you haven't already. Meridian 59 is back in full swing and is currently tons of fun!

That's not to say we haven't had our share of problems. Billing has been quite an obstacle as we learn the inner workings of being an online merchant. International billing which was supposed to be activated on our account from day one took an additional two weeks to get turned on and working properly. Shipping has been ... interesting as we package hundreds of discs to send around the country with shipping software crashing and end of day invoices not matching the actual number of items we shipped. Then we had a whole new set of problems when we started shipping internationally. Let's hope we got that all straight now! Although these times can be trying, after a few hours of banging my head, I can log onto the game and see all those people that we're working for and it suddenly doesn't seem so bad.

As more and more of these things get worked out we'll have more time to work on the game itself. We have big plans and we're as excited as you are to have them implemented. Enjoy the game and look to the newsglobes, forums, website, and these newsletters for updates on what we're doing and what we're planning. Thanks again for sticking with us and supporting Near Death Studios and Meridian 59.

Brian's Bug Bashing
I've been taking it slow and playing a mortal for a bit. Feedback is great, but there is a lot to be said for getting in there and digging into the game yourself. My focus in the upcoming weeks will be to fix bugs that weren't caught before and to do small tweaks to gameplay.

Please continue to send game balance suggestions to me, Psychochild, via gmail. Bugs should be emailed to bugs@neardeathstudios.com IN ADDITIION to any other way you contact us. It is important for the bugs to be recorded.

As for the recent changes:

  • Reduced the drop rate of Dispell Scrolls. These were more common than intended.
  • Fixed spawning in one of the buildings in Brax.
  • Fixed Duke and Rebel faction troops to use the proper insignia.
  • Attributes now leave an item when it breaks. So, that cursed mace will now become uncursed when it breaks and will no longer stick to you.
  • Changed the improve rate for various spells. For example, touch spells (such as Touch of Flame, etc) will improve slower while attack spells (such as Blast of Fire) will improve faster.
  • Fixed Denial. The spell now takes away health when the enchantment expires as it was intended to. More powerful casts will result in a longer duration in which to escape and heal up. The spell no longer drains mana and vigor, however; mana cost was increased to compensate for this.

We expect the pre-launch to run for almost another four weeks, perhaps more. These characters will not be deleted and will carry over into the full commercial launch. Hurry up to ensure that you get your Pre-Launch account before they're all gone!
