Q and Psychochild on the boards.
12/11/2001 5:27:52 AM - Sindar

Active as always, Brian Green and Rob Ellis II have made many posts of interest on the board.

all i ever see on the M59 website for news is interviews...we'd rather see progress posted there since the first interview we read is the same as all the others >:P

Psychochild: I can assure you we're working as well as doing interviews. :) You should start seeing more actual game-related news soon.

Interviews are important, because we need to get the word out that the game is back. While there is a good community on these boards, many people moved on.

If we get enough people, the game makes enough money to keep going and you get to play the game until you die. :)

It's easier to issue a press release saying "We have hundreds of thousands of accounts!" rather than "We have the happiest players."
a few more lines like that and the cash should be lining up..... ;)

Psychochild: Hehe. :)

Glad you liked that. I think it's unfortunate that other games try to focus on getting more subscribers instead of getting happier subscribers.

I know why they do this, of course. More players = more income = more profit. But, I'd rather have happier people playing Meridian 59, personally. :)

You guys say they'll pull in 4k a month from the new server...I wouldn't be worried, especially when they are licensing copies of Renaissance for people to host.

Like Lubricant, for instance. Who has a license from Q to run his Renaissance server and to also sell the server software for upwards of $400.
Just the other day he was talking to PsychoChild on the phone about it because Q was out of the office.

Or is he just lying?

Q: We have not licensed any Meridian 59 software to anyone at this point.

Any plans to support the NT/2k/XP side of things, or going the 95/98/ME route only?

Psychochild: I used to develop on Windows NT 4.0 at 3DO. That means I ran the client on NT.

I'm developing on Windows 2K right now. Client seems to run just fine, except for the scroll bug.

We're looking into the scroll bug. I'm almost certain we'll have that fixed by launch.
