Building from scratch

Building your character from scratch

All you will really need is a decent set of statistics for building your character at a fairly rapid pace. Not all players will have 8 hours a day to spend on Meridian, so building relatively fast is in your best interest. I would recommend building a pure warrior type of character to begin with and then use your other character slot for your main character.

Recommended statistics

30 Might
10 Intellect
50 Stamina
50 Agility
10 Mysticism
50 Aim
(this will give you 12 possible levels or 6th level Weaponcraft and 6th level Kraanan)

Optional statistics with Shal’ille

30 Might
20 Intellect
50 Stamina
40 Agility
20 Mysticism
40 Aim
(this will give you 15 possible levels or 6th level Weaponcraft, 6th level Kraanan, and 3rd level Shal’ille)

Creation screen

If you chose the pure warrior statistics, you will most likely want to choose the 2nd level Kraanan spell called Bless. This spell allows you to hit more often (which is needed in all aspects of fighting). Then you can choose which Weaponcraft skills you want to allocate your remaining skill points to.

If you chose the optional statistics with Shal’ille, you will want to pick the second level Shal’ille spell called Holy Touch. This spell allows you to do a great amount of damage to all things undead (like Mummies, Zombies, Battered Skeletons, Skeletons, Tusked Skeletons, and Daemon Skeletons). It’s a great spell and only costs 3 emeralds to cast (which lasts for up to 2-4 minutes, sometimes longer). You will then want to spend the rest of your remaining skill points on 1st level Shal’ille spells (I recommend Breath of Life, Holy Symbol, or Minor Heal). These spells seem to be the easiest to improve.

Raza

This is a place for new players to learn the ropes of the game. If you are not familiar with Meridian 59, this place is great for learning how to manipulate the different commands and actions in the game. If you are familiar with the game, just go through the portal to Meridian 59.

Meridian 59 the Game

Once you are out of Raza, you will want start building. If you are playing for only role-playing purposes, this FAQ is not going to help you much. If you chose the warrior stats, the best place to start is at the city of Tos. There is a screen called Main Gate to the City of Tos, there are Rats, Centipedes, and often Faction Soldiers (the soldiers you do not want to attack just yet). You can start whacking the Rats and Centipedes right away. Use whatever you have to kill them. Pick up everything these creatures drop. You will be looking to keep Brown Mushrooms and Sapphires for your Kraanan spell Bless.

Once you aquire enough reagents. You will want to go to Frisconar and sell him what you have. After a short time, you will accumulate a little bit of cash and hopefully more hit points. Once you have over 1,000 – 3,000 shillings, you will want to visit Rook in Cor Noth and buy your remaining 1st level Weaponcraft skills. You will not need to worry about Kraanan spells at this point. After you buy your skills, you should have enough money left to purchase armor, shields, and/or weapons from either players or from the blacksmith in Barloque. Continue to fight Rats and Centipedes until you reach 30 hit points (careful, you can now be hit by other players).

If you chose the Shal’ille statistics, you will want to start off the same way … only you will want to sell everything you get except for Herbs and Elderberries. Once you get enough money, you will want to go to the Shal’ille temple and buy your remaining spells for 1st level. All this while, you need to be practicing your spells you bought at the Creation Screen. You will want to continue in this manner until you are qualified to learn and buy 2nd level Shal’ille spells.

With the added Shal’ille spells and levels, you will more than likely want to get them as soon as possible. If you want the ability to Rescue to your home town, improve your spells until you are able to buy 3rd level Shal’ille spells. You will also be able to use the spell Identify in 3rd level (highly useful for figuring out what magical weapons do). If you decide that you want to continue until 4th level Shal’ille, it will be really hard to do, but not impossible. The benefit is gaining the ability to Dazzle. You would aslo get use out of the 4th level Shal’ille spells Forces of Light, Purify, Truce, and Qorbane. But I would recommend stopping at 3rd level.

Building Process

After your character has reached 30 hit points, the easiest thing to do is to fight Fungus Beasts and Slimes out in the Sandy Shores of the Great Ocean outside of the Sewers of Barloque. You can also fight them on the screens The Great Ocean (don’t attack the Mollusk Creatures) and the Valley of Illeria (there are also ground worm larvae here to kill).

You may also want to try your hand at fighting Zombies and Skeletons in the Tos Graveyard. This proves more difficult unless you have someone who can cast Holy Weapon on your weapons. If you chose the warrior stats with Shal’ille option, Holy Touch rocks the undead here.

You will want to continue doing this until you gain 40 hit points. After that, you will want to join the Jonas faction. The Jonas faction will give you benefits in Weaponcraft (improving better and bonuses to damage).

You can start fighting Orcs now. A good place to do this is in the Icky Caves near Tos. Keep as manyOrc Teeth as you can find because you will need them when you start Kraanan. It would also be wise to save your Sapphires because Kraanan uses loads of them for reagents and they can get expensive if you try to buy from vendors.

The most likely place to fight after this is Castle Victoria. You should be able to get to around 65-70 hit points fighting there. You will also make quite a bit of cash by the reagents you sell coming from this place. Note – The Shal’ille character will shine here because of the ability to Rescue to your home town (makes for a lot quicker runs from Castle Victoria). Again, save your Sapphires for Kraanan spells later.

You will more than likely be able to buy the 4th level Weaponcraft skill Scimitar Wielding from Quintor by this time. Get a friend, or offer payment to someone to help you with the Scimitar Quest/Yetti.

Once you get to the 70 hit point range, you're going to want to either buy a Nerudite Sword or two, or pay someone who can Enchant Weapon on a scimitar, axe, or hammer (whatever you're working on at this point). You will most likely spend a long time in Ukgoth fighting Trolls. Trolls will take you to around 90 hit points.

I usually stay with Trolls until I hit around 80-85 hit points then I move on to the Throne Room in Castle Victoria (watch out for the Ghost) where I fight Tusked Skeletons. These bad boys will take you all the way to 100 hit points. They drop scimitars, scale, inkies, arrows, etc. so you will never be ill-equipped while fighting here. Stay with Tusked Skeletons as long as you can. They will take most of your skills to 99% if you have the patience.

Another option would be to fight Lupoggs (which also take you to 100 hit points) in Jasper or Barloque sewers. They are harder to kill and drop decent loot (including plate) but are not as abundant as Tusked Skeletons.

At this point, you should think about taking a trip out to the Island. Stock up on Bless reagents and inkies. Take with you a few sets of gaunts, a couple of knight shields and maybe a couple of helms. This should sustain your needs while fighting Dragonflies and Peet-Seeeep Avar Warriors. I recommend fighting out in Oigin of the Kriipa (OOK), it's a common hunting grounds for players. You should easily be able to make serious cash, gain hit points and improve your Weaponcraft skills here. You will be able to get to around 115-120 hit points fighting these guys.

This is about the time you will purchase Fire and Archery. Once you do, it will be very easy to buy arrows and practice the skills. They move very slow and take tons of arrows, but they both move up to 99% if you take the time to do it.
