1) You go to either Tova, Pietro, or Meidei, not including D'Franco or Paddock and say "Mining Expedition". Either one of them will tell you which smithy (Quintor, Colhorr etc.) is insterested in mining expedition. (I've not gotten any favor from D'Franco or Paddock.) This is the message you will get: "I heard that Colhorr wants someone to go on a mining expedition for him, and that it may be of particular interest to your guild members. You may want to send one of them to ask him about it."

2) Go to the appropriate blacksmith and say to them "Mining Expedition". That blacksmith will say: "Aye, someone eager to do this favor for me. Undoubtedly you've heard that the orc mines have reopened. Well, them orcs mine a strain of iron ore that's of a much higher grade than what we can get out of the stripped out Jasper mines. I want to get my hands on some more of it before the Princess or Duke or whoever's running the show now closes them caves back up. Bring me some ore, and I'll use the last of what I have now to make you a coat of arms."

3) Offer the blacksmith a chunk of ore and he will say: "Ah, this will make for some fine weapons and armor! Thank you greatly, [character name]. In your absence, I have fashioned a shield which displays your guild's crest and colors. Wear it forth proudly, you have done well for your guild this day.

4) He will only do one per expedition.....you can't give him 3 ore chunks and expect to get 3 shields. Nerudite ore doesn't work.

Monthar Kragan (106):

The guild leader is only needed to design the shield. After that anyone in the guild can got to one of the three mainland blacksmiths and say mining expedition. If that smith is in the mood you will get the message about getting him some ore. Offer a chunk to him and you will have your shield. The bartenders are not even needed to get this favor. However take the ore with you when you try to get one as you will not have time to obtain any before you lose the favor. I have proved this several times over. I obtained one 4 times which I gave to members of my guild. I also lost the favor 3 times because I could not get ore from my vault to Quintor in time.

Aero/Starburst (101):

My method of getting herald shields is pretty easy.

Create a temporary guild. Pick herald shield design. On the character who is guildmaster run to Tova in the marion inn, Pierto in jasper, and the guy in Brhama and Falcon in barloque. Simply say Hello to these innkeepers and if the quest is open you will get it.

I want to say quest resets every 12 to 16 hours.
