What school should I learn?

Schools

Weaponcraft
This is the school of physical combat. Most players feel that this is one of the schools that is almost required to learn to build a decent character for PvP and/or PvM. However, I have seen characters without Weaponcraft do battle and they seem to do fine without it. I always use Weaponcraft as a base school to learn. I would also recommend new players to pick this school first, before doing the schools of magic. This is the easiest school to train in and master.

Kraanan
If there was one school of magic that could best compliment Weaponcraft, Kraanan would be it. This school has unequaled buffing spells for your might, armor, and abilities to hit harder and more often. The school also offers protection from general magic, as well as, resistences from certain spells like Hold, most poisons, and even some types of Riija spells. It is also the only school that will allow you to mend items found in the game (clothes, armor, weapons, etc.).

Jala
This is a school of magic that allows you to emanate bard-like abilities. You can actually stifle the castings of all the other schools of magic when you have mastered Jala. You can make characters gain their vigor, hit points, and mana back at a faster rate. You can even imitate certain spells, by way of alchemy, using the spell Distill. On top of all this, you can charm people into a frenzied dance.

Riija
This is the school of deception and illusion. Riija spells can allow the caster to morph into certain monsters, go completely anonymous, fake a death, find out how powerful opponents are without actually fighting them, and even imitate a Firewall. This school is also the only school that will allow you to travel to distant lands by way of teleportation (or Elusion). Masters of Riija often find it rather rewarding to offer their services to new players and veterans alike.

Faren
This is the school of elemental magics. Faren is the war mage’s school, it enables the caster to do tons of direct damage and offers the resources to resist those magics at the same time. You can hurl fireballs at your opponents, put up walls of lightning, set up sticky webs to trap your prey, shatter items, and even cause a tremendous earthquake to erupt. No other school offers the sheer power of damage output Faren does. Mastering Faren makes you a tough Battlemage.

Shal’ille
Shal’ille is referred to as the healer school of magic. It is also commonly called the good school of magic because it’s based off of positive karma. You are able to heal people, blind them with holy magic, see if they are good or evil, remove curses and diseases, remove good and bad effects, rescue yourself to safety, and even bring players back from the dead. You also have spells that dramaticaly effect the undead.

Qor
Qor is labeled the evil school of magic because it is based off of negative karma. Different spells will help you hide from your enemies, damage your opponents with acid, drain life from others, and even gain incredible powers at incredible costs. You will also be able to immobilize your targets, weaken them, put curses on them, and even animate dead bodies.
